Jenny Blackbird

Multi-disciplinary artist Jenny Blackbird, Nehiyaw/Finnish Canadian (Kehewin Cree Nation, Alberta), was born in Alberta, but raised in Tsi Tkaronto / Dish With One Spoon Territory. She is a fashion designer, hand drummer, and old style jingle dress dancer. She works at the Centre for Indigenous Studies (University of Toronto) for the Ciimaan/Kahuwe’yá/Qajaq Indigenous Language Initiative program, and also works for the Royal Ontario Museum as an Indigenous Knowledge Resource Teacher. Jenny volunteers her time at Aboriginal Legal Services as a community auntie for the Giiwedin Anang program, as well as for the community council as an advisory committee member and council member.
