Sandra Whiting

Sandra Whiting has been at the epicenter of activity and change in Toronto’s African Canadian community for over twenty years. She has worked with the Ontario Black History Society, Jamaican Canadian Association, and the Caribbean Cultural Committee and was awarded the Harry Jerome Award for Community Leadership in 2002. As a keynote speaker and storyteller, Sandra uses the telling of stories as a vehicle for positive social change. For her work in sharing and preserving stories from the African diaspora, Sandra was honoured with the Rose Fortune award at the 2019 Ontario Black History Society’s Black History Month kickoff event in Toronto on January 27th.
